Mother's Bracelet

I have often thought about creating a Mother's bracelet, and a recent order resulted in a little gem that I thought I would share with you. This is a great gift idea for any mom, and is especially nice for a mom of a little boy who may not want to put jewellery on her son (although I think that's the coolest thing!). For this design, I used 4.5mm sterling silver letter beads to create the name (PETER), along with Swarovski crystal, sterling silver accents, and freshwater pearls.

Creations for the Nov. 11 Class

We had a great time at our last class. Once again, I am amazed at the beautiful designs that result! I provide everyone with the same materials, but each person's taste and personality come through into what they make. Here are some pictures of what was made by Karen, Renee, and Clarissa.

Creations from Last Nights Class

Due to the flu that's going around, we had a small class yesterday, but it was so nice to have a more personal teaching experience and time to visit.

Here are some of the beautiful creations that resulted from both Karen and Tammy.

Our next class is on November 11. Contact us asap to book your spot. I'll have one project (an amazing piece for Christmas) to work on if you choose, and of course I'll have all the supplies necessary for you to make earrings, bracelets and necklaces.

Christmas ~ 2 months and Counting

It's hard to believe, but Christmas is only just 2 months away. I read the other day that the majority of people do their Christmas shopping in October. Although this has never been my habit (I am not organized enough) it is something that I see the benefit of. Not having to run around like mad a few days before Christmas, and actually spend my time with my family baking Christmas cookies and just enjoying the season sounds wonderful to me! With this in mind, I am planning to close Darling Bijou for the month of December. That means that if you want any of our jewellery for gifts, or for your own enjoyment this coming season, now is the time to put your orders in. Here are some ideas:
3-Strand Bracelet ($65) ~ I haven't seen a bracelet that compares to this one in beauty and sparkle, and certainly not for the price. You pick the colors, and we make you something fabulous to give as a gift, or keep for yourself.

Gold Stardust Bracelet ($65) ~ This bracelet is rich in the colors of Christmas. Golden hues are luxurious draped on your wrist. This bracelet looks amazing on everyone who tries it on, and although I am a silver girl myself I've made an exception for this beautiful bracelet.

Briolette Earrings ($30) ~ These simple and elegant Swarovski crystal earrings are sure to please. Available in your choice of color, with either 14k gold-filled, or sterling silver ear wires.

Why not make some of your gifts this year? Come to a jewellery-making class and create something special for your family and friends that is just from you! We'll be happy to teach you everything you need to know to make a gift you'll be proud to give.

We've spent the last year designing some amazing jewellery that is sure to please the bride, her attendants, and her pocketbook! At Darling Bijou, we only use Swarovski crystals and pearls, sterling silver, 14k gold-filled beads, and freshwater pearls. Here's some of the pieces you'll see on our website www.darlingbijou.com/bridal.html.

Out with the Old, In with the New

The winds of change have blown through Darling Bijou in the last year. After having my 2nd baby in December 2008, I was forced to take some time off to, well, be a mom to 2 busy munchkins. During this time off, I took some time to think about what the future held for me and for Darling Bijou. I decided I needed to re-prioritize.

Darling Bijou originated 5 years ago as a company specializing in Children's jewellery, a line that brought me so much satisfaction. I love creating jewellery for little people, but after 5 years, it is time for something new. I plan to revisit my children's line in about a year, for now I am going to put it on hold to focus on some other things that I am excited to tell you about.

For the last couple of years, we have been dabbling in bridal jewellery. We now have a full line, one that we will continue to add to, providing brides with beautiful jewellery that is handmade with the highest quality materials, yet extremely affordable. We invite you to shop around. We know you will find our prices are well below our competitions'.

Our adult jewellery is usually made to order, but we will be pushing this more to the forefront by creating some unique pieces, including rings, earrings, necklaces, and of course, bracelets.

What we are really excited about is our jewellery-making classes! This is our opportunity to try new things, teach them to you, and introduce you to the jewellery-maker in yourself! We'll be posting class times and projects on here regularly. Make sure to check back to see what we have going on.

Thanks for all your support over the last 5 years. Although we know you will miss the children's line, we hope you enjoy this brief divergence into something new and different, and if you can't do without our little people jewellery, why not come to a class, and make some yourself?
